Fall Bucket List for Preschoolers

Image of bench with fall leavesWELCOME FALL!

Are you already out of ideas of things to do with your preschooler to keep them busy this fall? If so, I’ve compiled a list of some of my families’ favorite things to do. Have fun with these, or create a family bucket list of your own. Remember, it’s all about making memories… 🙂

  1. apple picking
  2. make caramel/candy apples-I make these at school with my students each year. We add mini chocolate chips, mini m&m’s, and sprinkles to these. They are colorful and delicious too!
  3. hayride
  4. pumpkin picking
  5. go on a leaf hunt-I also read the book, We’re going on a leaf hunt by Steve Metzger&Miki Sakamoto
  6. paint a pumpkin
  7. carve a pumpkin
  8. rake leaves
  9. fall scavenger hunt-you can look for things like pinecones, leaves, acorns, stones, bugs, etc.
  10. make homemade applesauce-you can put this in your crockpot on low in the morning and it will make your house smell yummy!
  11. leaf placemats-wax paper+iron needed
  12. JUMP in leaves
  13. campfire with s’mores
  14. leaf rubbings-place leaves under paper, take wrappers off of the crayons and have your toddler roll the crayon with their hand on the paper over the leaves.
  15. take a fall hike

What are some of your personal favorite things about fall?

  1. What a refreshing list of things to do with our children. It’s fun, educational and adds a degree of excitement to family life. Most importantly as you said, we are creating great and lifelong memories.

A good one in my opinion would be to teach the names of bugs, plants etc. and to document activities in a scrap book. This can serve as a reminder or a reference of the memories created then.

Thanks very much for these great insights. Just reading makes me come alive with excitement.

  2. I dont have any kids myself but I do have a huge family and babysit, so these are some awesome ideas of how to keep kids occupied during the fall. These will create amazing memories. Another favorite is after carving pumpkins, and scooping out all the guts, taking the seeds and baking them. Its a tasty treat!
